Home Ministry issues alert, asks users to delete 4 apps from smartphones to prevent cyber fraud

NEW DELHI: The Home Ministry in an alert issued on Tuesday said that Pakistani agencies are sending malware in smartphones through some mobile apps to steal vital information of the users.
The ministry has asked mobile users to immediately delete four apps from their smartphones to prevent cyber fraud.

  • Top Gun (game app)
  • Mpjunkie (music app)
  • Bdjunkie (video app)
  • Talking Frog (entertainment app)
According to the Home Ministry, Pakistani agencies are infecting mobile phones in India with malware through these apps to steal sensitive information and for espionage purposes.
There are high chances of cyber fraud because of such apps when mobile banking is used on smartphones, the ministry said.
The government in May issued a similar alert when it said that Pakistan’s security agency ISI is spying on Indian security forces using malware through mobile gaming and music applications such as Top Gun and talking frog.
Malware (malicious software) is any software used to disrupt computer or mobile operations to gather sensitive information or data. It’s a type of virus designed to infiltrate devices without the users’ consent.
Recently, India had expelled Pakistan high commission official after he was detained on charges of spying, setting off the latest diplomatic spat between the neighbors.

Tamannaah walks out of Kapil Sharma’s film?

With a super successful show and an Abbas-Mustan movie under his belt, it looks like the stars have aligned perfectly for comedian Kapil Sharma. He made his Bollywood debut with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, which had a cast that boasted of names like Supriya Pathak, Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Phadnis, Elli Avram and Varun Sharma.

It was then learnt that Kapil was all set to drive his Bollywood career ahead, producing his second acting venture, Firang. For the movie, Ishita Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia were speculated to be in lead roles.

Now, we hear Tamannaah has walked out of the movie, forcing the makers to look for a replacement. A source close to the developments reveals, “Tamannaah had been signed for the movie, but things turned sour when her role turned out to be parallel to Ishita’s. Hence, she opted out of Firang.” When contacted, Tamannaah’s spokesperson refused to comment on the story.

Rs. 2 Lakh Crore Black Money Declared By Mumbai Family Under Investigation: Government

Mumbai: A Mumbai family's declaration of Rs 2 lakh crore income has been rejected and investigations in the matter are on, the Union Finance Ministry has said. The ministry said the declaration was rejected as it was "suspicious in nature, being filed by persons of small means".

The family of four - Abdul Razzaque Mohammed Sayed, his son Mohammed Aarif Abdul Razzaque Sayed, wife Rukhsana Abdul Razzaque Sayed and sister Noorjahan Mohammed Sayed, are residents of Bandra.

The declaration of Sayeeds is thrice the total amount of Rs 65,250 crore declared under the Income Disclosure Scheme, formed to flush out black money. The scheme, which closed on September 30, provides immunity to those who declare hidden income and pay 45 per cent of the declared amount as tax, surcharge and penalty.

Expressing suspicion that the declarations could have been "misused", the ministry said inquiries are on to "determine the intention behind these false declarations".

The ministry said it has also rejected the declaration of Mahesh Shah, the Ahmedabad-based businessman, who had gone missing last month after declaring black money worth over Rs. 13,000 crore.

The low-profile real estate dealer, who has since surfaced, has told income tax officials that the money belonged to many people, including politicians, bureaucrats and builders.

After being questioned for nearly seven hours today, the 67-year-old was allowed to leave on health grounds. He will be questioned again tomorrow.

Regarding the Sayeeds, the ministry said three out of the four PAN numbers were originally from Ajmer. These were migrated to Mumbai in September 2016, where the declarations were filed.
